I have two horizontal lines in my Word 2010 document that I did not add. One is in the middle of the document at the end of the page and one is at the end of the index. I can not select them and I can not select the paragraph return before and after it at the same time. I can do each individually. I do not have borders selected in auto correct and I have tried the paragraph return before or after and selected no border. I have a very large document and I really need to delete these two lines.
I have a MS Word document with numerous horizontal lines going all the way across the page (Mac). Select them 2. See them in 'Show non-printing characters' 3. Select a range from above to below and delete/cut When I hover over them, the 'move' icon appears (two parallel horizontal lines with arrows pointing up and down). They are not only about a fourth of a page long. It has little dots around the line.
I have tried the suggestions I have read here. One thing when I select the paragraph return, it will stop right before the line and refuse to move. If I select the return after the line, it will stop when I try to go up the page. It will not move to the line. I would appreciate any help I could get.

See the article ' There is a line in my document that I can't delete because I can't select it. How did it get there, and what can I do about it?” at: If it is actually a graphic line, in the Editing section of the Home tab of the ribbon, use the Select pulldown to activate the Select Objects facility and with that activated, you should be able to select the line and delete it.

Advertisement If you’re writing up a long report in Microsoft Word and want to use simple dividers to split up the various sections for readability, all you have to do is type three hyphens and hit Enter for a long horizontal line to magically appear. But once it’s there, getting rid of it can prove challenging. You’d think using the Delete or Backspace keys would work, but that only works if you delete right after hitting Enter. Otherwise, you’re stuck with that line. How to Delete Horizontal Lines in Microsoft Word While you can’t use the Backspace key to get rid of it, you can still nix that line if you choose to: • Place your cursor directly above the line.
